Salford Red Devils vs Leeds Rhinos Super League Preview

I never imagined I would write the following comments, but “ super league leaders Salford Red Devil’s” remain unchanged against an unimpressive Leeds Rhinos team out to prove the doubters wrong .

For the Rhinos the legacy of the Sinfield, Peacock, Burrow, Mcguire and Hall era hangs around their necks like a noose, and Trent Merrin , Konrad Hurrell and Tuimoalo Lolohea need to up their game considerably .

On paper you would expect the Rhinos to blitz Salford by about 30 points but Rugby league games are not played on paper and the Coaching of Ian Watson has been shrewd and calculating in recent weeks.

With Lee Mossop and Gil Dudson up front the Red Devil’s have two tough no nonsense props and with Jackson Hastings and Robert Lui controlling the middle the Leeds pack will need to hit Salford hard in the opening phases.

With suggestions that Adam Cuthbertson and Matt Purcell can leave this can not be seen as a positive for the rhinos with last seasons regular Anthony Mullalley already sent packing to the Toronto Wolfpack.

Much will be expected of Stevie Ward, an exceptional player and leader but he can’t do it all by himself .

I’m expecting a Salford win by 18-22 with the Salford pack dominating
