Robins Steal Derby In Dying Seconds

This was last ditch, final moments , end of game stuff as Rovers centre Jimmy Keinhorst managed to squeeze in at the corner despite frantic efforts from the Hull Defence . Ben Crooks managed to collect a Josh Drinkwater kick before offloading to Danny Addy and Danny McGuire who combined to set up Keinhorst for this traumatic winner. Home fans and players went ballistic demonstrating what total passion exists in this Hull derby, with the spoils taken by the home team .

Two early tries in the opening exchanges put the visitors in the driving seat .Firstly Sika Manu crashed his way over before Matty Dawson Smith went over after a Danny Washbrook kick. With Marc Sneyd concerting both scores the visitors had rampaged into a 12-0 lead and things were looking good for coach Lee Radford .

Rovers however were not resting on their laurels for too long after firstly captain Joel Tompkins romped over after a trademark McGuire pass and then the legendary playmaker provided a lovely grubber kick for ex Leeds forward Mitch Garbutt to romp in close to the posts.

Two Josh Drinkwater conversions and a penalty goal gave the home team a rapid turn around 14-12 half time lead.

The second half stalemate was broken on 67 minutes by a superb Bureta Faraimo score and he bulldozed his way down the flank for an outstanding individual effort.

It looked to be hulls game until that final play of the game and Keinhorst just managing to keep his foot in play .A dramatic end to a seasons opener but coach Lee Radford looking down the barrel of his 12th consecutive super league defeat.
A record crowd of 12100 at the KCOM stadium and the perfect start for Rovers coach Tim Sheens .
