Hull KR vs London Broncos Match Report

Hull KR sealed another impressive victory with close season signing from Leeds rhinos, Mitch Garbutt once again playing a pivotal role with two tries.
These are the types of games that Rovers must win if they are to aim for a top eight finish. They did however sustain injuries to Ben Crookes and James Greenwood who will both be a doubt for next weeks game against Salford.
The home side appeared nervous in the opening exchanges and in a scrappy performance, NRL veteran Kane Linnett proved his worth by turning out of a tackle to take the four. Josh Drinkwater missed with the convention
A nice break by powerhouse forward Robbie Mulhern came to nothing when he made a foolish kick for his three quarters resulting in a wasted opportunity. On the Handover Matty Gee took a lovely James Cunningham ball to equalise, with Kieran Dixon adding the conversion.
This was a game of errors and neither team looked comfortable with passes going astray and quality lacking in attack. Danny McGuire and Josh Drinkwater will need to work on their combinations if this season is going to amount to anything for the Robins.
For the Broncos Luke Yates missed two sitters and Junior Vaivai for the home team also failed to collect Drinkwater’s grubbed kick.
Real sloppy and the home fans were not at all happy going into the break.
Into the second half and that man Mitch Garbutt forced his way over from close range with Drinkwater finding his kicking boots to take the Robins into a 10-6 lead. Shortly after strong central play by Vaivai put Craig Hall in At the corner, with Hall himself converting.
Garbutt ‘s second followed soon after with good work from Drinkwater briefly showing some of his form from last year
At 22-6 and London hooker Eloi Pelissier send to the sin bin for a high shot on young Will Dagger, this was going to be a tough scrappy win with no thrills attacked. Fun seekers need not apply.
Jay Pitts did respond for the Broncos from a Jordan Abdull grubber and coach Tim Sheens will be happy with the two points but not the performance.
