Confederate Cup Mediterranean defeats Latin Heat 26-12

This game has was originally scheduled to be played in Cabramatta but was moved to Kellyville due to weather. Both teams have a nice start to the game, good attack and defense, feeling each other out until a barnstorming run from Addison Demetriou sees him cut through the line and stride easily downfield for a try to take first points for the Mediterranean team. Addison Demetriou converts his own try. (6-0)

High kick off from the Latin Heat sees the the Mediterranean team working out from their own half until an error give the Latin Heat the ball just inside the Mediterranean team half. This resulting set leads to a attacking kick which is disarmed by the Mediterranean team. Their attack leads up the sideline, then from side to side, Addison Demetriou dashes down the opposite wing to score in near the corner. Addison Demetriou misses out on converting his 2nd try (10-0)

the Mediterranean team look ominous again from another break from Addison Demetriou, a mistake from the Mediterranean team gives the Latin Heat the ball on the half way line. Hamzer Anwer breaks out from a pass on their own line to get to the the Latin Heat 40m line. From there the Mediterranean team set themselves up after a penalty.

A beautiful cutout pass to Hamzer Anwer from Christian Torabey sets up a brilliant try bypassing the up and in defense. The try isn’t converted so (14-0)

An awesome break from the the Latin Heat almost leads to a try but the last pass is given to the the Mediterranean team winger.

Not long after a high shot leads to a penalty to the Mediterranean team on the the Latin Heat 40m line. The resulting set sees the Mediterranean team cough up the ball giving the Latin Heat position to strike. the Latin Heat forwards setup a platform and the resulting bomb goes straight to Addison Demetriou who looks dangerous once again breaking through tackles.

The the Latin Heat seem to be struggling. Rhys Miller gets the try from a great sweeping run from the Hillat Kara-ah who draws in 4 the Latin Heat players to get the pass off to Rhys Miller. Addison Demetriou converts the try (20-0). the Mediterranean team get back to the the Latin Heat in the first set after points. Not long after Khoder Mitwari dashes out at a marker and scores from dummy half. Addison Demetriou converts the try making it (26-0) at halftime

The 2nd half sees the the the Latin Heat set up in the the Mediterranean team dangerzone. Just when i looked like the Mediterranean team had their measure, a sneaky one on one strip allows Sean Day to dash off to score a try. James Horvat converts the try making it (26-6)

The Mediterranean team get into great position, and after kicking a ball ahead their attack is squashed by the Latin Heat. A dropped ball from the Latin Heat puts the Mediterranean team back on the front foot, until a dropped ball on the first tackle hands the ball back once again. Andrew Zylauro barnstorms up-field. Latin Heat spread the ball wide and fast to get a penalty from the Mediterranean team being offside. Another penalty to Latin Heat gives them another set close to the line. A panicked kick leads to a missed opportunity to trap the Mediterranean team in-goal.

Not long after Addison Demetriou is held up over the Latin Heat line from a pass from Palumbo as we ease into the last quarter of the game. A two on one strip leads to a penalty to the Mediterranean team ultimately leading to a mistake giving the ball to Latin Heat after being taken over the sideline.

The next few sets were scrappy with lots of errors. A huge hit from Addison Demetriou leads to retaliation off the ball to a penalty. the Latin Heat end up with the ball again close to the the Mediterranean team line. Another penalty forces the referee to have a chat with the the Mediterranean team captain.

Both teams then settle into completing their sets, kicking for field position. Sean Day scores his second try carrying four the Mediterranean team players across the line off a short pass from Seb Martiner. James Horvat converts the try 26-12.

A sneaky short kickoff from Addison Demetriou see them get the ball back already on the attack. Ronny Palumbo gets held up over the line late in the game although it did look like he had scored. The Latin Heat kept trying their hardest however their error rate really took them out of the game.
