Salford Red Devils vs Toulouse Olympique The Qualifiers Round 7 Preview

Salford will look to secure their spot in Super League for 2019 with a win over a very strong Toulouse side, who are still firmly in the hunt for million pound game spot, and the potential of an automatic promotion spot with a win over the Red Devils.

Toulouse and Salford have never met in their histories which means we can only go off recent form, Toulouse have won 3 of their last 6 games, claiming wins against Widnes, Halifax and Hull KR, Salford on the other hand, have lost their last 2 games but won the last 4 before that.

Salford make 4 major changes to their squad, unfortunately for the French side, they are all for the better; Logan Tomkins, Jackson Hastings, George Griffin and Daniel Murray all return to the 19 man squad. Toulouse are unchanged from the side that ran out winners against Hull KR last week.

Salford Red Devils: Jake Bibby, Luke Burgess, Greg Burke, Niall Evalds, Mark Flanagan, George Griffin, Jackson Hastings, Greg Johnson, Josh Jones, Craig Kopczak, Ryan Lannon, Rob Lui, Joey Lussick, Tyrone McCarthy, Dan Murray, Ben Nakubuwai, Derrell Olpherts, Logan Tomkins, Kris Welham.

Toulouse Olympique: Bastien ADER, William BARTHAU, Clément BOYER, Joe BRETHERTON, Chris CENTRONE, Rhys CURRAN, Johnathon FORD, Tyla HEPI, Mark KHEIRALLAH, Mourad KRIOUACHE, Paul MARCON, Gavin MARGUERITE, Anthony MARION, Constantine MIKA, Sébastien PLANAS, Maxime PUECH, Stanislas ROBIN, Justin SANGARÉ, Paul SÉGUIER.

This is getting to be a tight game, Toulouse have proven time and time again that they are team with points in them, their defense will be the big ask and and their potential shortfall, defense will win either of these sides this game. I'm predicting a close Salford win, the Red Devils have substantially more to play for and memories of the 2016 Million Pound Game will be motivation enough to avoid the dreaded game.
