Roosters spoil Slaters fairytale


Melbourne v Sydney in the decider. Cooper Cronk up against his old team with Billy Slater looking for a fairytale finish to his career. 

The opening points came in the 3rd minute off the back of a holding penalty from Will Chambers. Latrell Mitchell converted the Penalty Goal and Roosters lead early 2-0. 

The Roosters were first to score a Try in the 2018 grand final through Daniel Tupou off a long floating pass from Luke Keary. Mitchell couldn’t convert the try but Roosters held a 6-0 lead. 

The Roosters were running rampant early and Latrell Mitchell went over in the 15th minute and converted his own try. Roosters lead 12-0. 

Jake Friend made a break off the back of a Storm mistake and Cameron Munster was sin binned for holding on too long. Mitchell converted the penalty goal and Roosters lead 14-0 in the 30th minute. 

With the Storm a man down the Roosters took advantage and Joseph Manu went over in the corner in the 36th minute but Latrell Mitchell couldn’t convert from the sideline. Roosters lead 18-0. 

Halftime Roosters 18-0. 

The second half saw the Storm slowly wrestle the possession back but they couldn’t convert a few opportunities into points early on. 

It was a Josh Addo-Carr intercept try that saw the Storm finally get on the board in the 62nd minute. Cameron Smith converts from practically in front to shorten the Roosters lead 18-6. 

Luke Keary slotted a field goal to push the Roosters lead out to 19-6 with 10 minutes to go. 

Latrell Mitchell kicker a penalty goal after Munster was sin binned again for a kick to the back of the head to a Roosters player on the ground out of frustration. Roosters 21-6. 

The Roosters win the 2018 NRL Grand Final 21-6.
