Roosters down Sharks in tough contest

The Roosters bought up big in the off-season and they’re starting to see the results that they were expecting when they bought Cooper Cronk over from Melbourne and James Tedesco from Tigers.

The Sharks struck first blood with a try to Siosaia Feki in the corner who did well to reel in a wayward pass and spin round and score but Holmes was unable to convert and the Sharks led early 4-0.

The Roosters would be next to score through Cooper Cronk who crashed over and with Mitchell converting the Roosters hit the lead at 6-4 but not for long as the Sharks evened up the scores through a penalty goal 10 minutes later. 6-6.

This game was a tough match and it was evident in the close scoreine in the first half but before the break the Roosters went over through young centre Joseph Manu but his centre partner couldn’t convert and the Roosters took a narrow 10-6 lead into the halftime break.

Cronulla wanted to come out strong in the second half and that’s exactly what they did scoring first like they did in the first half but this time through Edrick Lee who is Knights bound next season. Holmes converted and the Sharks led 12-10.

From here on out the Roosters scored all the points with tries to Latrell Mitchell and Daniel Tupou and a field goal to Cooper Cronk who put the game out of reach for Cronulla.

Although the Roosters are now into a preliminary final Cronulla bashed them but the Tri colours were tough and resilient earning their week off.
