Eels thrashed as Roosters claim Minor Premiership


With Melbourne losing last night the Roosters has the opportunity to take the minor premiership with a big win over the last placed Eels.

The Roosters cracked the Eels left hand side defence in the first set in their 20m zone through Joseph Manu and Latrell Mitchell kicked the conversion from the sideline. Roosters 6-0.

Roosters kicked a penalty goal to give them an early 8-0 lead in the 10th minute.

Roosters scored again through Blake Ferguson who notched up his 100th first grade try. Latrell Mitchell converted and Roosters lead 14-0.

David Gower split the Roosters defence and passed back to Jarryd Hayne who raced away to score a much needed try for Parramatta. Mitchell Moses kicks the conversion and narrows the Roosters lead 14-6.

Halftime Roosters 14-6.

The Eels finished the first half with some momentum and were hoping to continue that in the second half but it was the Roosters who gathered momentum and scored first through Blake Ferguson in the corner off a beautiful Luke Keary pass. Latrell Mitchell converts and Roosters lead 20-6.

Eels were next to score through Bevan French when he swooped on a Roosters error and raced 70m to score. Mitchell Moses couldn’t convert. Roosters 20-10.

Mitchell Moses was sin binned for a professional foul in the 52nd minute and the Roosters capatilised as Daniel Tupou scores in the corner. Mitchell couldn’t convert. Roosters 24-10.

Roosters went over again in the next set with Latrell Mitchell crashing over close to the line but he couldn’t convert and Roosters lead 28-10.

Eels lost another man to the sin bin for a professional foul in Michael Jennings.

Latrell Mitchell strolled over in the next play and he managed to convert his Try to give the Roosters a 34-10 lead.

Mitchell completed a hattrick in the 65th minute but failed to convert and Roosters lead 38-10.

Roosters fullback James Tedesco scored next and Mitchell converted and Roosters led 44-10.

Roosters took the minor premiership with a 44-10 win over the Eels.
