Catalans Dragons vs St Helens Super 8's Round 4 Preview

Victory over the Catalan Dragons will secure the league leaders shield for St Helens, but to be blunt the real prize remains the Grand Final at old Trafford and that is the only target that matters.

Saints make a single change only to their squad with Aaron Smith coming in for Ryan Morgan. There is a very settled feel to the saints team and the only nagging doubt will be the desire by the saints fans to see the return of the world class form from Ben Barba.

For Catalan Michael McIllorum, Mickael Simon and Jason Baitieri return and will be hoping for a repeat their semi final performance when they took the glory over saints and secured that Wembley appearance and eventual victory.

With just Pride at stake for the home team they will be looking for some good end of season performances. The big guns of Sam Moa, Greg Bird, Kenny Edwards and Remi Casty are all available to play and on form this Catalan team can beat anybody.

Saints need to respond quickly from that 30 points to 10 walloping by nearest rivals Wigan and I expect danger men Tommy Makinson, Johnny Lomax, Mark Percival and Regan Grace to be on fire and determined to obtain a positive result.

Forwards like Matty Lees ,Morgan Knowles and Luke Thompson represent a bold new area for saints and I’m expecting a top class display for the visitors in a close encounter. Saints should take this game by 8-12 points with a 17.30 kick off at the Stade Gilbert Brutus.
