Wakefield Trinity vs St Helens Super 8's Round 2 Preview

Can St Helens stop the wheels from “ falling off the bus” in this Thursday nights fixture “ against a dangerous looking Wakefield team ( kick off 19.45).

Saints appeared almost unstoppable a few weeks ago playing fast flowing and exciting rugby league. Then “ boom” , the bubble burst with a huge explosion as defeats against Catalan and Huddersfield reminded all of us, that St. Helens are not yet the finished article .

For Wakefield Scott Grix returns to the squad with Keegan Hirst making way, and Trinity will be reminding themselves that they are only one of three teams to beat Saints in the league this year.

For Saints, arguably their best forward this season Luke Thompson misses out due to suspension and Adam Swift makes way for Jack Ashworth with Aaron Smith also making the nineteen.

Wakefield have started to tick a lot of boxes in recent weeks with forwards Pauli Pauli, David Fifita and Matt Ashurst dominating opposing forwards. Jacob Miller has provided a lot of momentum to free up Tom Johnstone and Ben Jones bishop on the flanks and not Many centre combinations get the better of Bill Tupou and Reece Lyne.

For Saints we need to see the world class form of Ben Barba if they are to take this game. With Johnny Lomax and Mark Percival in the backline they will prove equal to this scintillating Wakefield three quarter line.

Tom Makinson has real class and this will be a good test of Regan Grace against two of the best wingers in super league.

This should be a highly entertaining game, but Wakefield will have that scent of victory and I’m taking them to take this game by 4-8 points in a close encounter .
