Leeds Rhinos vs Hull Kingston Rovers The Qualifiers Round 3 Preview

We are almost at the halfway point in the qualifiers and Hull KR sit in an all too familiar position, currently sitting in the dreaded 5th spot, but undoubtedly confident after their victory in Canada over the Wolfpack, Leeds are currently 2 for 2 and sitting 2nd only on points difference.

Leeds have narrowly claimed the win on both occasions in 2018, the first a 20-11 victory in the early rounds of the season, the second a 20-18 win, it could very likely be another tight game come Saturday night, especially with so much to play for. This means the Robins last victory over the Rhinos was the 1st April 2016 30-10 win at Headingley.

Leeds give 3 spots to retuning playes, Jordan Thompson back from a 2 game suspension, Matt Parcell and Jack Walker both return from injury to claim a spot on the 19 man squad. The Robins welcome back to of their own strike weapons, Justin Carney and Maurice Blair, Todd Carney still sidelined as is Lee Jewitt and James Donaldson who picked up knocks against Toronto.

Leeds Rhinos: Ashton Golding, Tom Briscoe, Liam Sutcliffe, Joel Moon, Richie Myler, Adam Cuthbertson, Matt Parcell, Brad Singleton, Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Carl Ablett, Stevie Ward, Brad Dwyer, Anthony Mullally, Jimmy Keinhorst, Brett Ferres, Nathaniel Peteru, Jack Walker, Luke Briscoe, Jordan Thompson.

Hull Kingston Rovers: Adam Quinlan, Junior Vaivai, Danny McGuire, Nick Scruton, Shaun Lunt, Mose Masoe, Maurice Blair, James Greenwood, Ben Kavanagh, Chris Clarkson, Tommy Lee, Robbie Mulhern, Liam Salter, Chris Atkin, Danny Tickle, Justin Carney, Joel Tomkins, Craig Hall, Ben Crooks.

I'm backing another close game with a similar result, Leeds to take this 1-6 points, the Robins spine has been picked apart by injury with Lunt and McGuire as the only recognized play makers in the squad, while I don't dispute they are more than good enough to control a game it's a huge ask for these old warhorses.
