Depleted Dragons beat underwhelming Tigers 20-10

The weather at Leichardt was blustering winds and the Dragons came to play this week.
An awesome bomb from Marshall swirls around and Dufty doesn't quite get to it handing over great position. The Dragons manage to defend, the arm wrestle being even until Mbye gets put into dangerous position letting the Tigers off the hook,

The Dragons ended up losing ground on the last. They weren't showing structure and the Tigers are on half way already. Before they knew it Hunt was almost over the Tigers line to be denied by Mybe at the last moment

The last pass or offload not managing to find Tiger's hands not helping their attack.

A great turnaround from the Dragons followed a great dash down the sideline by Kurt Mann, passing off the Jordan Periera to dash 20mins to get past Nofoluma to score.  Converted by Tim Lafai

Just before half time a missed penalty by Lafai gives the ball back to the Tigers who try to trap the Dragons near their line. The Dragons get 6 again, then a penalty with 3mins to go. Luke Brooks stops a certain try and a cheeky dummy half rake gets the ball back for the Tigers only for Brooks' cutout pass to go out on the full.

Ouch. Ben Hunt dropped the ball off the kickoff. The Tigers charge through Chris Lawrence scoring off the back of that error to Ben Hunt. Esan Marsters misses the conversion. The Tigers get back down to the Dragons line off the kickoff, only for a knock on off a Marshall pass.

Overall the game seems stop start and after a late shot from Sims on Lawrence, the Tigers were almost in. An official warning and then a penalty means that Ben Hunt was sent to the bin.

From a scrum base, Luciano Leilua busts through to dive over the line. to be converted by Lafai

Tyson Frizell gets a nice short pass of Mccinness to storm over the line.Converted by Lafai again.

A lovely pass from Moses Mybe to Kevin Niqama sees him score in the corner. Conversion missed by Marsters. This try showed what they Tigers were trying to achieve all game.

The Dragons manage to beat the Tigers 20-12, even with the Sinbinning of Hunt and Widdop out injured. The line in the sand drawn in their win as they pretty much ensure their spot in the finals.
The Tigers really needed to win this week and their finals hopes are starting to fade.

  • Esan Marsters 52' Penalty
  • Jordan Pereira 26' Try
  • Luciano Leilua 63' Try
  • Tyson Frizell 75' Try
  • Timoteo Lafai 27' Conversion
  • Timoteo Lafai 65' Conversion
  • Timoteo Lafai 76'Conversion
  • Timoteo Lafai 56'  Penalty
