Widnes Vikings vs Hull Kingston Rovers Super League Round 21 Preview

Coach Francis Cummins brings in highly rated young full back Olly Ashall-Bott as well as forwards Wellington Albert and Ted Chapplehow for this critical home tie for the Vikings. An abysmal run of defeats sees widnes languishing seven points behind their opposition with a disastrous run of thirteen consecutive defeats .
Indeed you need to go back several months and have an extremely good memory to recall the last Vikings super league victory on 22nd March when they defeated Salford 24-16.

hull KR will however be able to reflect on three fantastic results in recent weeks in particularly the 52-22 mauling they inflicted on Salford last week when Danny Mcguire showed what an incredible player he still is with an outstanding hat-rick of tries.
Rovers pack have been dominant recently and Masoe, Greenwood, Mulhern , Tickle and Tomkins will be confident of inflicting additional misery on a set of home fans demanding better results .
The widnes faithful will be delighted to see Wellington Albert at least in the nineteen and jay Chapplehow ,Gil Dudson, Tom Olbison and Chris Houston certainly have the ability to take the Robins on up the middle .

The Robins have however won five of the last six encounters between the two clubs with the most recent being a convincing 31-12 home victory in April when Justin Carney scored two tries .
Justin Carney is likely to feature again after recovering from an injury although the Rovers will miss the impressive Junior Vaivai and Ryan Shaw.
Ex Widnes Viking Chris Clarkson returns along with Elliot Wallis whilst young Will Dagger makes way .

The form guide may suggest that the Vikings will continue to struggle , although Ashall-bott if selected will be a threat. Wellington Albert has a huge amount of potential and young Owen Buckley retains his place in the squad.
This is a Viking team brimming with some very talented players but the experience of Mcguire and his combination with young half Atkin will provide plenty of attacking options for this Rovers team .
I’m taking Rovers to take this game by 10-14 points, although the Vikings will be no pushover if they play to their potential .
