Salford Red Devils vs Leeds Rhinos Super League Round 23 Preview

Both of these sides have reasons to feel like things can only get better in the run up to the Middle 8's,Leeds recording their first Super League win since the 19th of May against Widnes, Salford hopeful of things to come as they welcome Jackson Hastings to the UK and the squad for the Friday fixture against the Rhinos.

Salford are looking for their first win since Round 10 of the 2016 season over the Rhinos, to take the bigger picture into account, that win is Salford's only victory over Leeds in the last 10 meetings between these two sides, Leeds claiming the spoils back in April, a 20-0 win in the home leg.

Jackson Hastings is in position to make his debut for the Red Devils as well as the return of Gavin Bennion after a loan spell with the Rochdale Hornets, they are both named in Ian Watson's 19 man squad. Leeds are without a few first team regulars for this fixture, Brett Delaney, Ryan Hall and Brett Ferres and Stevie Ward all missing, Leeds do welcome back Nathaniel Peteru after his second major injury and Jamie Jones-Buchanan returns for his first game since May.

Salford Red Devils: Junior Sa’u, Niall Evalds, Robert Lui, Josh Jones, Mark Flanagan, Lama Tasi, Ryan Lannon, Tyrone McCarthy, Ben Nakubuwai, Josh Wood, Derrell Olpherts, Lee Mossop, Jake Bibby, Levy Nzoungou, Daniel Murray, Gavin Bennion, Ed Chamberlain, Greg Burke, Jackson Hastings.

Leeds Rhinos: Ashton Golding Tom Briscoe. Liam Sutcliffe,Joel Moon Richie Myler, Matt Parcell, Brad Singleton, Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Carl Ablett, Brad Dwyer, Mitch Garbutt, Jimmy Keinhorst, Nathaniel Peteru, Ash Handley, Cameron Smith, Josh Walters, Luke Briscoe, Dom Crosby.

It makes absolutely little to no difference to either side now, expect a quiet game from both sides with both holding back a little, the table will be wiped when it comes to the Middle 8's and all focus will have already shifted to that point in time, either way I predict a Rhinos victory by 13+.
