Leeds Rhinos sack Brian McDermott

After an abysmal run of form, Leeds Rhinos have sacked long serving coach Brian McDermott.
The Rhinos issued a statement stating that they have decided to release head coach Brian McDermott with immediate effect .

Despite winning the competition last year, the Rhinos have come crashing back down to Earth in 2018. After a losing streak spanning seven games, the Rhinos have become a team that looks unconvincing at the best of times, with very little direction on the field. This was compounded last round, with the Wigan Warriors putting 7 tries on the defending champions.

McDermott has appeared very much under pressure in recent interviews, yet this is still a massive shock to rhino supporters. The Rhinos are currently sitting eighth and whilst not the worst position to be in at the moment, the are facing the prospect of having to go through the qualifiers to ensure their spot in the Super League beyond this season.
McDermott is considered one of the greats in the coaching ranks of the Super League, with his record being the most successful in the summer era of the competition.
