Eels beat Bulldogs in gritty contest

Both sides went into this match hoping to get the 2 points to get themselves away from the dreaded wooden spoon.

It was the Bulldogs who scored first when the Eels opened up defensively to allow Kerrod Holland to stroll in and score the try. Rhyse Martin converted from in front.

The next 20 minute each side tried to gain some dominance over each other but neither side could capatilise on any opportunities.

Bulldogs winger Brett Morris was sent to the sin bin in the 31st minute for a professional foul on Bevan French.

In the 35th minute Tepai Moeroa busted up the middle and passed back inside to a supporting Kaysa Pritchard who went in and scored a Try. Mitch Moses converted and the Eels levelled the score.

Some great scrambling Bulldogs defence was on show in the last couple of minutes of the opening half.

Both sides went into the halftime break at equal pegging.

The opening 10 minutes to the second half saw Parramatta come out with more intent in defence.

Mitchell Moses scored a try in the 53rd minute against the run of play when Lewis kicked through and Moses cleaned it up and ran 90 metres to score the Try. Clinton Gutherson converted the try and put the Eels in front 12-6.

The Eels got a penalty on the 25m mark and converted the penalty goal and with 12 minutes to go Eels lead 14-6.

The Bulldogs brought he margin back to 6 with a penalty goal of their own through Rhyse Martin. Eels 14-8 with 7 to go.

The Eels managed to hang on for the win 14-8.
