Dragons Continue Run Of Form


A superb victory for one of the form teams of super league at the moment  saw the Catalan dragons come out convincing 35-18 victors against a disappointing wakefield trinity team .
The Catalans are playing some Excellent football at the moment as reflected in a superb performances from centre Williame who crossed for a double .

Former Catalan star Justin Horo opened the scoring for wakefield following up on a tricky grubber kick from Tyler Randell to ground the ball.
Finn converted and Wakefield were 6-0 up .

The Dragons response was swift with a fast interchange of passing near the wakefield line creating a gap for Greg bird to cross for the four. At that distance and running at speed nobody was going to stop bird from claiming the four .Drinkwater took the successful conversion to equal the score at 6-6.

This was followed up by a clever pass from Langi to the impressive Jullien who outpaced the trinity defence with a deceptive turn of speed to take the four. Drinkwater converted and two minutes later A beautifully placed Langi kick into the wakefield danger zone saw a fast moving David mead touch down to give the Dragons a 16-6 lead.
This was followed by a classic Williame sixty metre run , evading trinity full back Hampshire to claim the try with Drinkwater taking the two  to give Catalan a convincing lead .

Just before half time The highlight of the game for trinity fans saw a spectacular score from the magnificent Tom Johnstone collecting a kick in his own half and using his blistering pace to out run a desperate Catalan defence. This is a young man with incredible speed and surely a place in the test team against the kiwis at the end of the season is within his grasp .Finn converted and at 22-12 trinity were still in with a shout at half time .

Wakefield toiled hard in the second half and were rewarded in the 52nd minute with a second Justin Horo score.Straight from a play the ball from the dragons line Horo managed to split the defence for a fine individual effort .Finn converted.

With the scores tighter than expected Drinkwater took an opportunity to take a further two points on 61 minutes and a few minutes later Tony Gigot took the point with a drop goal and Catalan were poised to take the match at 25-18
The dragon sealed this win with a fine Williame score on 70 minutes after a lovely passing phase and a nice return kick from winger Yaha. drinkwater again converted . Yaha finished the game with a determined individual score in the corner after a wakefield error in their own quarter and this turned into a decisive Catalan victory over a disappointing Wakefield team
Dragons coach Steve McNamara will be pleased with this performance this will count as one of their finest wins of the season to date
