Catalans Complete Mid Season Comeback

This was the Fouad Yaha show as the promising young winger romped in for four tries against a much weakened Salford team and thus confirmed their place in the super eights .

first score for the Dragons came Indeed from Yaha following up superbly on a Wiliame break and finishing off at speed

The next score saw a beautiful pass from Simon to Langi break the Salford line and of course Drinkwater was following right alongside the impressive Langi to take the four .

With an earlier penalty and this conversion Dragons were 12-0 up and looking really dangerous from all over the field .

Olpherts responded a few minutes later however finishing a nice passing movement with Lui and Wood involved to take the four and momentarily the Red Devil’s had some hope .

This was short lived as the response from the Dragons was swift . first Jason Baitieri went over at close range surrounded by a posse of Salford defenders and then Kenny Edwards followed up from a Drinkwater high ball to take an inside pass from Yaha both converted by Drinkwater to take a substantial 24-4 lead .

Yaha”s second try was the result of a wonderful passing movement across the field in the Salford quarter with his centre Wiliame again his provider with a classical centres pass and Yaha claiming the four in the corner .

That left the half time score at 28-4 with the Dragons in control in front of a rapturous French crowd.

It was much the same into the second half when Yaha claimed his treble after another wonderful passing movement at high speed between Edwards and Wiliame and Yaha being in exactly the right place to take the score .

A few minutes later and straight from the scrum base the ball was moved again at speed to Yaha and he was able to outpace the Red Devil’s back line for another great wingman’s try.

Drinkwater converted and the game was well and truly in the bag at 38-4, although for the Red Devil’s hooker Wood scored a nice try on 62 minutes following up from a josh jones pass from a ruck of French defenders to step his way over the line. Irish international Ed Chamberlain converted the two .

The final spoils came to the Dragons however with high scoring Kenny Edwards following up on another beautiful Drinkwater kick to score near to the posts. The conversion was an easy one for a kicker like Drinkwater and at 44-10 there the scores remained .

This was an emphatic Catalan Dragons win with Drinkwater , Yaha , Wiliame , Edwards and Langi outstanding . They are looking like a very solid team with pace on the flanks and a strong dominant pack.

Salford will need to get some troops back from injury if they are to win any more games in the next few weeks, but the dragons will be looking forward to the next phase of the season .
