Wakefield Trinity vs Huddersfield Giants Magic Weekend Preview

These two sides met just 8 days ago in the Challenge Cup, the Giants dumping Wakefield out of the cup in a 24-14 win, Trinity will certainly be out for revenge. Both sides have similar recent form with just 2 wins in their last 6 games, however, 5 points and 2 places separate these two sides.

These two have met twice already this season, Wakefield claimed the first meeting 22-4 but lost the second 24-14 leaving it all square on head to heads for 2018. That Huddersfield win now means that the Giants have won 3 of the last 5 meetings between these two sides, typically these games are decided by a margin of 8+ points, with these being the last 5 results; 36-6, 28-26, 24-16, 22-4 and 24-14.

Huddersfield make two changes, they welcome back Aaron Murphy and Oliver Roberts from injury to give themselves a boost coming into this difficult fixture. Wakefield welcome back Ben Jones-Bishop and Danny Kirmond as their only two changes to last week's side, they replace Joe Arundel and Max Jowitt.

Wakefield Trinity: Tinirau Arona, Matty Ashurst, James Batchelor, Mason Caton-Brown, Anthony England, David Fifita, Liam Finn, Ryan Hampshire, Keegan Hirst, Justin Horo, Tom Johnstone, Ben Jones-Bishop, Danny Kirmond, Reece Lyne, Jacob Miller, Pauli Pauli, Tyler Randell, Bill Tupou, Kyle Wood.

Huddersfield Giants: Jake Mamo, Jermaine McGillvary, Jordan Turner, Aaron Murphy, Lee Gaskell, Danny Brough,Sebastine Ikahihifo, Kruise Leeming, Michael Lawrence, Ryan Hinchcliffe, Jordan Rankin, Oliver Roberts, Ukuma Ta’ai,Paul Clough, Adam O’Brien, Alex Mellor, Darnell McIntosh, Tyler Dickinson, Matty English.

I'm going to back Wakefield for this one, the Giants did provide the shock factor and played well but I just don't get the feeling that they will be able to replicate the performance once more. I'm going to back Trinity to win this one by 13+.
