Salford Red Devils vs Huddersfield Giants Super League Round 16 Preview

8th place Salford invite 9th place Huddersfield to the AJ Bell as both sides find themselves with an opportunity to dent each others chances. Huddersfield coming into this fixture with a shock win over Wakefield at the Magic Weekend, Salford however, didn't enjoy their time in Newcastle as much as theiir opponents, losing to Catalans 26-12.

Huddersfield face the prospect of losing 5 in a row against the Red Devils, after their 30-10 loss back in April this year. Huddersfield's record against Salford quickly becoming a one sided affair in recent years after losing all three of their 2017 meetings.

Huddersfield make just two changes from the side that ran out 25-22 winnes over Wakefield, Sam Wood and Tyler Dickinson drop out fro the returning Daniel Smith and captain Leroy Cudjoe. Salford have brought in Jake Shorrocks, Ben Nakubuwa and Gavin Bennion, who all returnfrom injury, they replace Lama Tasi, Kris Welham and Jack Littlejohn.

Salford Red Devils: Greg Johson, Junior Sa'u, Niall Evalds, Robert Lui, Craig Kopczak, Logan Tomkins, George Griffin, Weller Hauraki, Mark Flanagan, Ryan Lannon, Tyrone McCarthy,Ben Nakubuwai, Josh Wood, Derrell Olpherts, Lee Mossop, Jake Bibby, Daniel Murray, Gavin Bennion, Jake Shorrocks.

Huddersfield Giants: Jake Mamo, Jermaine McGillvary, Leroy Cudjoe, Jordan Turner, Aaron Murphy, Lee Gaskell,, Danny Brough, Sebastine Ikahihifo Kruise Leeming, Ryan Hinchcliffe, Jordan Rankin, Oliver Roberts, Ukuma Ta’ai,, Paul Clough, Daniel Smith, Adam O’Brien, Alex Mellor, Darnell McIntosh, Matty English.

It's a real tough one to call this game, Huddersfield when they show up are a team that should definitely be sat outside the bottom 4 but have lacked consistency, the same goes Salford, they should have won last week's game but failed to capitalize on opportunites. I'm going to back the Giants to end Salford's streak and win by 7-12 points.
