Wests Tigers 20 defeat the North Queensland Cowboys 12

An entertaining start to Indigenous Round as the Tigers and Cowboys went set for set at Leichhardt, with neither side able to apply any serious pressure due to poor last tackle options. And it was a poor last tackle option that lead to the first points, with Morgan putting a cross field kick in for Feldt, who caught the ball and passed it back in to Luke Brooks who ran 90 meters untouched.

It didnt take long for the Tigers to cross again after a I'll disciplined penalty from Thurston. The play started with Brooks skipping cross field, giving a pass to Fonua who was unable to be taken down one on one, giving an offload fo a flying Thompson down the left edge, who managed to get a offload away whilst having 3 defenders on him to an unmarked Watene-Zeleniak who crossed over untouched.

Paul Green brought on Te Maire Martin just before the halftime break and had instant success. A Thurston bomb was allowed to bounce by the Tigers and Fensom came through and collected the ball giving Martin a one handed offload as he managed to plant the ball down under the sticks. The conversion by Thurston was the first of the night and brought the gap back to 2.

3 incomplete in a row from the Cowboys ended up costing them a try, with Nofoaluma getting over in the corner off the scrum, extending the lead to 6.

A bit of fortune for the Cowboys with the next try as a Benji Marshall kick was deflected by Cooper. Winterstein gathered the loose ball from just just inside his own half and was able to get over Thompson to plant the ball down on the left edge. Thurston got the conversion from the sideline to level the score at 12 all with 26 minutes to go.

Masters finally got his name on the scoreboard with a penalty goal in the 60th minute as the Tigers take a 2 point lead going into the final 20.

Yet another Cowboys error on their line results in instant points for the Tigers, this time it was Masters getting over the line after a dreadful attempted tackle from JT as the voodoo looked set to continue. Masters converting his own kick gave the Tigers an 8 point lead with 9 to go.
