The North Queensland Cowboys defeated the Penrith Panthers 26-20

The Panthers took their home game this week out west to Bathurst as they took on the struggling North Queensland Cowboys. The scoring was pretty stale for a good part of the first half, however dominant field position and some beautiful set plays saw the Cowboys score with Michael Morgan going over almost un touched.

More dominant field position saw the exact same with Ben Hampton going over moments later. The Cowboys dominated the first half with 6 line breaks and could hav e had a chance to score 30 points. However scramble defence saw the Panthers put a stop to that.

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak took Lachlan Coote out in mid air which saw Cowboys winger Kyle Feldt take exception to, Watene-Zelezniak however got 10 minutes in the Sin Bin after striking the Cowboys winger. This resulted in good field position and being a player down the Panthers were unable to hold out Gavin Cooper, giving the Cowboys a 20-0 point lead.

The Panthers hit back heading into halftime with a scramble play on the last tackle and a miracle pass saw Tyrone Phillips score in his Panthers debut. The Panthers were doing 20-4 heading into the break.

The Panthers had all the momentum coming out of the break and a sin binning for a professional foul saw Shaun Fensom spend 10 minutes in the bin. The Panthers didn't waste any time however with Peter Wallace scoring 2 tries within a 2 minute window bring the Panthers right back into the game.

Some more solid field position however saw Johnathan Thurston regather a bat back from a Lachlan Coote kick going over near the posts furthering the Cowboys lead.

A linebreak for Sione Katoa saw the Cowboys right side in Kyle Feldt and Ben Hampton chase him down on the other side of the field just before the line saving a certain try, however with the Cowboys now being short on that side and with the defensive line not sliding saw James Maloney put a pin point kick across seeing Tyrone Phillips going over again.

A late penalty goal however sealed the victory for the visitors as they grabbed their third win of the season.
