Wests Tigers 30 defeated the Parramatta Eels 20.

The Tigers have showed the Rugby League world they are not going to be a blow over this year. After officially being given the hardest start to a season in NRL history, the Tigers have put in another strong performance to go 3-1 to start the season, and take the Parramatta Eels to 0-4.

It was a need to win game for Eels, as their start to the year has not been what most expected. Mitchell Moses was also out to take down his old club and get his Eels up and going. With the Stay Kind Cup up for grabs, the Eels looked like they had come to fight with an impressive opening 10 minutes which saw a brilliant Mitchell Moses kick give stand in fullback Will Smith the opening try of the game. But from there on out, it was all the Wests Tigers.

After a hard fought 15 minute period, some great ball movement opened the scoring for the Tigers through Robbie Rochow who dummied his way through the line. Kevin Naiqama gave the home side the lead 8 minutes later, which was then followed up with an incredible put down by Corey Thompson in the corner which will for sure be a massive talking point through the week due to the controversial nature of the grounding, questions asked to whether it was out or not.

Tigers fullback Tui Lolohea was on his A-game in his return from injury today, slotting a perfect 4/4 including 3 sideline conversion and 2 excellent kicks to force the Eels in goal. The second half started the way it finished, with the Tigers dominating. A massive effort on the line by Matt Eisenhuth extended the Tigers lead right before Corey Thompson bagged a double with an almost length of the field try by the Tigers.

At 30-6 with 17 minutes to go, the game was all but over. The Tigers did slack off in the final 20 partnered with some Eels intensity which gave the away side some pride who picked up three consolation tries to finish the game. The Tigers now head to NZ for a big Round 5 double header to take on the defending premiers for the second time in the first 5 games, while the desperate Eels take on the Panthers for the second time in the opening 5 Rounds as well.
