Gutsy Eels get revenge over Tigers

Last time these clubs met the Tigers won convincingly despite a late Eels fight back but this time the Eels come off the back of an inspiring flogging of arch rivals Manly and look to continue their winning ways here.

Tigers got out of the blocks first with a penalty goal and Eels levelled it up with a goal of their own in  the 12th minute.

The Tigers scored their first try through Corey Thompson after boom centre Esan Marsters split the down the middle and passed to Thompson to stroll over under the up rights. Conversion successful from Marsters.

The Eels didn’t take long to hit back with Corey Norman putting a pin point kick into the in-goal for Bevan French to swoop on and score a try with Moses converting scores are locked at 8-8.

Eels were next to score to take the lead when Moses put Michael Jennings over off a nice flick pass. With Moses missing the Conversion and Tigers getting a penalty goal at the break Eels lead 12-10 going into halftime.

The second half was a see-sawing affair as both sides traded tries till the final minutes.

The Tigers second half tries by Matt Eisenhuth and Benji Marshall wasn’t enough to stop the Eels 24-22 victory.
