Huddersfield Giants vs Salford Red Devils Super League Round 11 Preview

Huddersfield play host to Salford in the opening Sunday kick off, the Giants unlucky to leave their fixture with Castleford after putting in one of their better performances of the season so far, Salford however, they were lucky not to be nilled for the second week running after a poor showing against Warrington.

The Giants met the Red Devils 3 times in 2017 Super League campaign, Salford taking the win on all 3 occasions, the largest margin of victory was 38 points, the closest game saw the Red Devils run out victors by 10 points. Salford have a very good recent record against the Giants, winning 7 of the last 10 meetings between these two sides, their record at the Galpharm is even better, Salford winning every fixture their since Round 23 of the 2013 season.

Danny Brough and Ryan Hinchcliffe have returned to the 19 man squad as well as Kruise Leeming,  Alex Mellor and Darnell McIntosh to bolster the Giants coming into a very important game. Salford welcome back Niall Evalds from concussion after he missed out against Warrington, this now means that Robert Lui will potentially move back into the halves after his brief stint at fullback.

Huddersfield Giants: Jordan Turner, Aaron Murphy, Lee Gaskell, Danny Brough, Sebastine Ikahihifo, Kruise Leeming, Shannon Wakeman, Ryan Hinchcliffe,  Jordan Rankin, Oliver Roberts, Ukuma Ta’ai, Paul Clough, Daniel Smith, Adam Walne, Alex Mellor, Darnell McIntosh, Matty English, Jared Simpson, Innes Senior.

Salford Red Devils:  Greg Johnson, Kris Welham, Junior Sa'u, Robert Lui, Jack Littlejohn, Craig Kopczak, Logan Tomkins, Josh Jones, Weller Hauraki, Mark Flanagan, Lama Tasi, Ryan Lannon, George Griffin, Ben Nakubuwai, Josh Wood, Derrell Olpherts, Lee Mossop, Jake Bibby, Niall Evalds.

Although the Giants looked good last week, I'm backing Salford to leave the Galpharm with 2 points, history and the Giants current form or lack of, on their side. Both sides are now fielding almost full strength squads but Huddersfield have a habit of failing to turn up for games that they should be winning, I'm going Salford by 7-12 points.
