Catalans Dragons vs Huddersfield Giants Round 9 Preview

Huddersfield come into this fixture feeling the best they have for weeks, the Giants holding Leeds to a 22-22 draw and were very close to leaving with both competition points. Catalans come into their round 9 fixture of the back of another loss, the Dragons with only 1 win from their last 8 games, every loss distancing the Dragons from the 8 as they currently sit 4 points adrift of 8th.

These two sides met 3 times in 2017, the Giants winning 2 out of the 3 games, Huddersfield beating the Dragons by the highest margin of 44 and the lowest margin 8. The Dragons 1 win came by just 7 points. Huddersfield historically have the better record against the Dragons, winning 6 of their last 10, losing 3 and drawing one game.

The Dragons name an unchanged side from the team that went down to Salford in round 8, hoping that they can redeem themselves. Huddersfield are without most of their first choice backs; Mamo, McGilvary, Cudjoe and a host of their forwards all sidelined after a strenuous start to the season. Louis Senior is dropped in place of his twin brother Innes Senior as one of the few changes to the Huddersfield line up.

Catalans Dragons: David Mead, Jodie Broughton, Brayden Wiliame, Fouad Yaha, Samisoni Langi, RĂ©mi Casty, Paul Aiton, Sam Moa, Benjamin Garcia, Greg Bird, Julian Bousquet, Mickael Simon, Jason Baitieri, Thibaud Margalet, Michael McIlorum, Lewis Tienrney, Benjamin Jullien, Alrix Da Costa, Tony Gigot

Huddersfield Giants: Jordan Turner, Aaron Murphy, Danny Brough, Sebastine Ikahihifo, Michael Lawrence, Ryan Hinchcliffe, Dale Ferguson, Jordan Rankin, Oliver Roberts, Ukuma Ta’ai, Paul Clough, Daniel Smith, Adam O’Brien, Alex Mellor, Darnell McIntosh, Colton Roche, Matty English, Jared Simpson, Innes Senior.

I'm backing the Giants to take the win in this fixture, Catalans have been well and truly off the boil and have given me no reason to believe that this fixture will be any different. The Giants showing more than enough fight last week to give me reason to believe that they can leave France with 2 points, Huddersfield by 6-12 is my prediction.
