Warrington Wolves vs Widnes Vikings Super League Round 8 Preview

Warrington seem to be making their way back up the Super League table after a win on the road over Wakefield last week, Widnes too sit in a good position in the standings after 8 rounds, just 2 points off third place after a comeback against Salford last week gave them their third win in 7 games.

Warrington continued their perfect form over the Vikings in 2017, claiming the win on both occasions as they have done in their last 6 Super League meetings too. To find Widnes' last competitive win over the Wolves you have to go back to the 2nd of March 2015, to find their last away win over Warrington you have to go back even further, the 15th of August 2013 to be exact, the Halliwell Jones fast becoming a stadium the Vikings struggle to perform at.

Warrington welcome back Ben Currie from injury, the second rower has been side-lined for over a month through injury, he is the only change the Wolves 19 man squad that beat Wakefield last week.Gil Dudson is the only change to last week's side that beat Salford, Wellington Albert is available once more after suspension but has not been named by coach Dennis Betts.

Warrington Wolves: Sitaleki Akauola, Ryan Atkins, Kevin Brown, Josh Charnley, Daryl Clark, Mike Cooper, Ben Currie, Bryson Goodwin, Chris Hill, Jack Hughes, George King, Toby King, Tom Lineham, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Joe Philbin, Stefan Ratchford, Tyrone Roberts, Morgan Smith, Ben Westwood.

Widnes Vikings: Greg Burke, Ed Chamberlain,Ted Chapelhow, Chris Dean, Gil Dudson, Tom Gilmore, Rhys Hanbury, Aaron Heremaia, Chris Houston, Ryan Ince, Krisnan Inu, Jordan Johnstone, MacGraff Leuluai, Stefan Marsh, Joe Mellor Tom Olbison, Charly Runciman, Brad Walker, Sam Wilde.

I'm backing the Wolves to pick up the two points in this fixture, Widnes didn't play well last week so if they play the way they did against Salford, there will be no way back, this also combined with their poor record at Warrington's ground points towards a Wolves victory by 12+ points.
