Salford Red Devils vs Catalans Dragons Super League Round 8 Preview

Salford will hope that good Friday is as good a time as ever to absolve them of last week's sins, failing to close out a game that they had dominated for long periods, however losing grip in the last 10 minutes. They entertain a Dragons side without much to celebrate at the moment.

These two sides met twice last year in the space off weeks, the first outing going to the Dragons by 38 points to 6, the second going to Salford 50 points to 12. High scoring games seem to be a common theme out of these two side, the lowest scoring game between these two sides saw 38 points, the highest 80 points in a 40-40 draw back in 2015. As far as head to heads go, these two are as evenly matched as they come, Salford winning 5, losing 4 and drawing 1 in their last 10 meetings with the Dragons.

Salford remain virtually unchanged from the side that came up short against Widnes last week, Luke Burgess is drafted into the 19 man squad in place of Tyrone Mccarthy, Kris Welham is also named and could return to the Red Devils starting line up. Catalans reintroduce Alrix Da Costa and Benjamin Jullien to their 19 man squad, they replace Iain Thornley and Lucas Albert as the only two changes.

Salford Red Devils: Greg Johnson, Kris Welham, Juniors Sa’u, Niall Evalds, Robert Lui, Jack Littlejohn, Craig Kopczak, Logan Tomkins, Josh Jones, Weller Hauraki, Mark Flanagan, Lama Tasi, Ryan Lannon, Luke Burgess, Ben Nakubuwai, Josh Wood, Derrell Olpherts, Lee Mossop, Jake Bibby

Catalans Dragons: David Mead, Jodie Broughton, Brayden Williame, Fouad Yaha, Samisoni Lango, RĂ©mi Casty, Paul Aiton, Sam Moa, Benjamin Garcia, Greg Bird, Julian Bousquet, Mickael Simon, Jason Baitieri, Thibaud Margalet, Michael McIlorum, Lewis Tierney, Benjamin Jullien, Alrix Da Costa, Tony Gigot.

I'm backing the Red Devils to win this fixture, thus far Catalans have done nothing to convince me that they can and will win another game all season, I feel Salford will have something to prove off the back of last week's disappointment and will be really gunning for the wounded Dragons. I'm predicting a Salford victory by a margin of 12+ points.
