Round 4 review Sharks vs Storm

Cronulla Sharks 14 defeated the Melbourne Storm 4.

The second game on Good Friday seen the Storm travel to the shire for the 2016 Grand Final re-match. It wasnt good news fot the home side with Dugan and Moylan ruled out before kick-off.

The game start slow with both sides giving away multiple penalties, with Sharks opting to take the 2. Little did we know that this was only just the beginning...

In the 13th minute, Billy Slater took one of the biggest dives seen in the NRL that would have made most Italian fans happy. This resulted in a blatant referring error, Luke Lewis get 10 in the bin in his 100th game for the Sharks.

The errors (9) and penalties (10) continued during the first 20, but even though the Sharks had one less player on the field they were able to work an overlap down their right edge and Edrick Lee was able to score the first try of the match in his first game of the season.

The Storm took a penalty goal through Stimson taking the score to 8-2 at halftime. Unfortunately for everyone watching the refs seem to think the game was all about them as they blew 16 penalties in the first half, resulting in Sharks co-captain Graham having words to the refs at half time.

The second half was no different to the first with the refs trying to blow the pea out of the whistle. 4 penalties against the Storm to start the half resulted in Sharks taking another shot at penalty and extending the lead back to 8.

The penalties continued and amazingly the ref had the courage to put Cameron Smith in the sin bin after some back chatting. The Storm were able to hold on whilst he was in the bin and with a penalty goal, the Sharks lead was back to 6. But minutes later the Sharks got another penalty goal and it was back to 8.

Key point of the game:
The penalties, all 33 of them...

Boom's player of the match:
Matt Cecchin, the man risked his career by sending fellow ref C. Smith to the sin bin.
