Round 4 Review: Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles vs Canberra Raiders

The Sea Eagles defeated the Raiders 32-16.

Game Review:

Much like the first game, one team scored very early and did nothing for the rest of the game. The Raiders scored in the 4th minute through Sia Soliola, and from here the first half was dominated by the home side.

The Sea Eagles struck next through Jake Trbojevic only moments later and every few minutes following that leading up until half time.

The Sea Eagles went into the break leading 26-6 after a dominating performance in the first 40 minutes. Tom Trbojevic had a hand in everything ranging from try assists to line breaks and seemed as if every time he touched the ball the Raiders were stuck on the backfoot and couldn't stop him from moving.

The second half saw the Raiders start to crawl back into the game after a strong amount of possession and finally starting to complete sets they scored though Jarrod Croker and a few minutes later struck again through Jack Wighton. This proved to be not enough to get the Raiders back into the game however with Manly going over again through a double from Matthew Wright.

Even though the Sea Eagles have dominated this game they still lost a lot of players due to injury with Kelepi Tanginoa and Curtis Sironen going down with suspected Medial Ligiment damage in the knee and they had a huge blow with only 7 minutes remaining in the game with Tom Trbojevic going down with an ankle injury. Good signs for Sea Eagle and NSW fans with Trbojevic walking from the field.

This game was much like the game last night between the Sharks and the Storm however there was no sin bins, especially due to backchat like Cameron Smith was marched for 10 for. I am all for cracking down on the ruck and play the balls, however they need to make these calls consistant. If you set a precedent of 10 in the bin for multiple penalties as well as back chat, it needs to be like that in every game.
