“Roosters A v Roosters B” is what some people in the media are calling this game. With 5 ex-Roosters in the line up for Newcastle it is an intriguing game who comes out on top.

Roosters have opened their 2018 campaign with a loss to Wests Tigers and a strong win against Bulldogs whole Newcastle have beaten Sea Eagles and Raiders.

Knights look to start the season off 3-0 which is a great improvement on their last 3 years.

Key Match Ups:

Match up 1: Cooper Cronk v Mitchell Pearce

Pearce was essentially let go by the Roosters because they bought Cronk from Storm. The NSW halfback will be looking to this clash to prove to the Roosters that he wasn’t worth losing.

This match up alone will have rugby league fans tuning in.

Match up 2: Boyd Cordner v Aidan Guerra

Once partners in crime winning the 2013 premiership together Cordner and Guerra face off against each other at club level for the first time in their careers.

Guerra has proven to be a class addition to a young Knights pack that needed a good injection of experience.

Cordner will look to get one up on his old Roosters team mate.

Match up 3: James Tedesco v Kalyn Ponga

Tedesco has a great game last week against the Bulldogs, showing Roosters fans what he is capable of.

Ponga has had 2 excellent games at the back for the away side. He will need to be at his best to beat his opposition number 1 this week.

Although the Knights have started the year 2-0 I can’t see their forwards being able to match it with Roosters if the home side play to their potential.

With Cronk and Tedesco starting to click last week look to them to keep building up their combination this week.
