Round 2 Preview: Melbourne Storm vs Wests Tigers

Melbourne Storm vs Wests Tigers
Saturday 17th March
AAMI Park
7:35pm (NSW), 6:35pm (QLD), 9:35pm (NZ)

Both of these teams are coming off huge Round 1 wins. The Wests Tigers pulled off a stunning victory in which saw them defeat premiership favorites the Sydney Roosters 10-8. On the other side the Melbourne Storm put on a clinic in Perth defeating the Bulldogs.
Both teams face a lot of different challenges this season, The Storm have to find a new halves pairing in Brodie Croft and Cameron Munster whilst the Tigers need to come up with a whole range of chemistry with an almost new squad.

Key Matchups: Cameron Munster vs Benji Marshall
Benji returned to the Tigers this season, and there was a cloud over the kind of role he would play this season. With a Hamstring injury to new recruit Josh Reynolds before the season started, Benji got the nod to start. In his first game back for the Tigers he was really impressive. He moved the ball around all whilst still showing glimpse of his earlier days with that amazing step that he has.
Munster on the other hand is growing better and better as each season goes forward, With a new halves pairing look to see Munster take on a more hands on role as he tries to form some key combinations. Last week Munster got the start at Fullback in place of injured Billy Slater, and he was extremely impressive. He had countless try assists as well as a crucial line break with a try finished off by Addo-Carr.

Forward Packs:Both of these teams have very solid forwards. The tigers spent most of their money this past off-season recruiting players like, Ben Matulino, Russell Packer, Robbie Rochow and Hooker Pita Godinet. All of which played outstanding and matched it with the Roosters forward pack.

However they come up against an experienced Storm pack who for many years have mastered the art of slowing down the play the ball and controlling the speed of the ruck. This is where I believe the game will be won. Which ever forwards come out on top will have their team in the best attacking spot and look to capitalize.

I will be cheering on another Tigers upset however I believe with all their new combinations they are forming and with the already experienced Storm side, I have to back the Storm by 12.
