Raiders vs Knights review

Canberra Raiders vs Newcastle Knights
Sunday 18th March
GIO Stadium, Canberra

The Newcastle knights defeat the Canberra Raiders 30-28.
Game Review:

This game did not disappoint. It was constantly back and forth with neither side getting the upper hand on the other. The knights left side attacked caused problems every time they ran that way just seemingly opening up the Raiders defensive line.

The Raiders forward pack was constantly on the front foot and created a lot of opertunity for second phase play allowing the Raiders quick play the balls and quite a few occasions where they got an extra 5m or so off an offload.

Where it was won: The Knights back line
Every time Newcastle shifted the ball wide, mainly to their left edge, gaps just seemed to appear. Kalyn Ponga had a field day running the ball having 2 try assists, 5 tackle breaks and 2 line break assists. All this accompanied his 138 total running meters.
The Knights back line just out played the Raiders this week and after losing Leilua early in the first half they just couldn't seem to recover.
