Knights vs Sea Eagles review.

Newcastle Knights 19 defeat the Manly Sea Eagles 18.

Game review:
What a game to start Friday night footy.
The Knight's got off to a perfect start after receiving back to back penalties, leading to Ponga going over inside the first 5 minutes of the game and converting his own try.
No less than 4 minutes later in Manly's first attacking set, a beautiful backline play involving both the Trbojevic brothers and new recruit Croker ended with Taufua going over in the corner and with DCE converting it was 6-6 after 10.
The last 30 minutes of the first half, both sides went set for set with plenty of errors and penalties in between before a late try by both sides before the end of the half seen the half-time score at 12 all.
A lot of possession for the first 20 minutes of the second half for Manly but were only able to score the single try with another two disallowed by The Bunker.
The introduction of Lamb on the field had instant success with Connor Watson going into hooker and almost immediately putting Lachlan Fitzgibbon over for a try, taking back the lead 18-16.
The Knights seemed to have the game wrapped up until a late penalty goal converted by Cherry Evans took the game into Golden Point.
DCE got the first shot at field goal with a minute and a half left in the first half of golden point but sliced it to the right. This gave this gave the Newcastle Knights perfect field position and a 7 tackle set it and Mitchell Pearce from 30 metres on the 3rd tackle takes a shot but he also just misses to the left to the post.
A dropped ball from Uate resulted in a goal line drop out from Manly, giving the Knights a whole set to set up for the field goal.
Lamb was able to get a shot away which was charged down, but with the Knights able to re-gather the ball Pearce and nails the field goal to earn the Knights their first golden point win since 2008.

Key point:
It may have occured within the first 5 minutes, but Ponga's try set up the whole game for the young man and the new look Newcastle Knights.
