Salford Red Devils 2018 Preview

Salford's 2018 will be very different to last season, they have a completely different setup, losing their chairman and top try scorer in the space of a few months. They had a very good season last year, finishing 4th in the regular season, before tailing off at the end of the Super 8's,finishing a disappointing 7th.

New Boys: Derrel Olpherts, Ben Nakubuwai, Tyrone McCarthy, Jack Littlejohn, Levy Nzoungou.

Losses: Justin Carney, Adam Walne, Jordan Walne, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Olsi Krasniqi.

Salford have made a couple of good signings, in particular Jack Littlejohn and Ben Nakubuwai, both players are young talents with plenty of potential. Littlejohn is a halfback and will likely slot in alongside Robert Lui creating a dangerous partnership.

Salford's biggest loss is Ben Murdoch-Masila, his input last season was invaluable and as the teams top scorer, someone is going to really have to step up and fill that gap. The direct issue with this is that I can't see who will, quality of that calibre is very hard to replace.

In my honest opinion, I believe Salford's number is up this season, the bottom 4 this season is as good as a death sentence this year. Strong pushes from the Championship could well see them face the million pound game. I'm predicting bottom 4 for the Red Devils this year, they had a really good year last year, but the changes around the club will have too much of an impact.
