More details of the Kato Ottio death revealed

It was devastating to hear of the death of PNG Kumul star Kato Ottio in the last few days, after collapsing whilst training with some of his old teammates prior to leaving for England. According to Fox Sports Australia, the mother of Kato Ottio has been given a reason as to why her son has passed away.

Ottio, who was always held in high regard due to his incredible work ethic, decided to continue running after an eight kilometre run in 33 degree temperature whilst still in Papua New Guinea after training with other teammates from the PNG national team. As he was running back with a few teammates, he slowed down and collapsed, falling into a coma that he would not wake up from. Ottio's mother told the Daily Telegraph that the doctors told her that he died from heatstroke.

Ottio's death was something that was felt all over the rugby league world, with the Canberra Raiders posting a touching tribute on their website. Clubs and teammates from the PNG Kumuls, England and back here in Australia have all expressed their feelings online as old teammates from PNG have been released to be with their families during this time.

May Kato Ottio be able to Rest in Peace.
