Fijian Team In NSW Comp By 2019

Fiji's governing Rugby League board have officially given their backing and contacted NSWRL to strengthen the proposal.

Former Fijian international and NRL veteran, Petero Civoniceva, has been lobbying for well over 3 years to make this a reality for Fijian Rugby League, stating that the FNRL's support was the "missing piece of the jigsaw".

The NSW competition will be a stepping stone in an attempt to get a Fijian side into the N9RL. Fiji have never been short of talent in Australia's biggest competition, meaning that an NRL side is more than possible.

Fiji have got the real hard work to do now, they must source $1.5 million in sponsorship funds to help make this dream financially viable, otherwise it will be near impossible for a Bati based side to join.

If the proposal is deemed sustainable by the NSWRL, then we are very likely to see a Fijian side playing on Australia soil.
