2018's Promotion Hopefuls

This season the Championship will have two major heavyweights slugging it out for a spot in Super League in 2019, the Leigh Centurions and the Toronto Wolfpack.

Both teams have recruited strongly in the off season, however they come from very different places, Leigh return to the Championship via relegation, and Toronto come up from Championship 1 after gaining promotion.

Obviously one of these teams going up is dependent on one team coming down, at the moment Salford are favourites to fill that unfortunate spot, losing key players, their chairman and crowd attendances,  look to bring an end to the clubs Super League stay.

Leigh: The Centurions 2018 squad looks better than their 2017 squad, signing high profile players, such as; Kurt Baptiste, Bodene Thompson, Peter Mata'utia and many, many more. Keeping these guys out of Super League with a team like that is going to be very difficult, the only real worry is if the playing group for some reason doesn't gel, especially with so many new faces, it's a possibility.

Toronto: The Wolfpack are a team who are not short on talent either, they too have strengthened their ranks for 2018, with; Cory Paterson, Dave Taylor and Josh McCrone amongst their new recruits. It will be a real culture shock for the Canadian side in 2018, they spent 2017 decimating opponents and going unchallenged in most fixtures, however the Championship brings much tougher opposition.

It's going to be really interesting from a neutral perspective as to how these sides fair in the league, one thing is for certain though, 2018 will be a dog fight.
