Year In Review 2017: Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs

Things weren't as bad as they have have appeared in 2017 for the "Dogs of War". They were one of the best defensive sides all year. They had the fewest missed tackles of all the clubs (605, compared to Melbourne's 709) and committed the fourth least tries in 75. In attack they plenty done with 4265 finishing third however they just couldn't get across the line.

Now their attack lacked all season long with the Bulldogs having rated the worst attack out of the 16 teams. They averaged 15 points per game and came last in total points scored (360), Tries (65), Try Assists (44), Goals (50) and Line Breaks (77).

Now this could be partial to blame with the fact at important times of the season they were missing key players, James Graham spent a month on the sideline whilst recovering from Neck Surgery, Fullback Will Hopoate missed Six weeks after suffering a facial fracture and due to State of Origin selection this limited Josh Morris to only 17 appearances for the season.

The Bulldogs are losing a lot of "Big" name personal for the 2018 season which I believe will hurt the club more than they may realise at the moment, They have lost the "Heart and Soul" of the club in Josh Reynolds (Wests Tigers) and Captain James Graham (St-George Illawara Dragons) but they have also lost a strong performer in Sam Kasiano (Melbourne Storm).

Now they have signed some big name personal to the side next season, They have added 5/8 Kieran Foran and Aaron Woods as well as good support personal who would love to break into the first grade side in Clay Priest (Canberra Raiders) and Fa'amanu Brown (Cronulla Sharks) but is it enough to fill the void and ultimately grow this club back up and get them to finals?

My prediction? Unfortunately I don't see things getting better for the Bulldogs and I believe that they will finish near the bottom of the ladder, Losing both Graham and Reynolds will be a big blow to the club.
