Who Is Pearce's Next Club?

A picture emerged on social media last night, which appeared to be Mitchell Pearce in talks with the Newcatsle Knights. This has come of somewhat of a shock as Pearce was odds on favourite to join Manly. There is still a possibility that Pearce could join the Sea Eagles but is just testing the water elsewhere.

The Knights wouldn't be a bad move for the former Rooster, it would see him join another player that has featured in the halves for New South Wales in Trent Hodkinson. Hodkinson's ability to control a game paired with Pearce's running game could see the Knight's be a tricky team to beat in 2018. Combine all of that with new signing Kalyn Ponga and the Knight's would have a very dynamic spine, dominated by captivating quality players. It would also see him join former Roosters team mates, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Aidan Guerra and Connor Watson.

The Sharks a rumoured to be in the market for Pearce too, I personally can't see this happening though, the whole remit of Moylan joining the Sharks earlier in the year, is that the former Panther would take the role of halfback in place of James Maloney. Pearce is not going to join a club on the premise of "if things go wrong" which would see Moylan then switched back to fullback, again it would just be a clash of talent that would create friction within the playing group.

Here is most likely to be Pearce's future club, the Manly Sea Eagles, Blake Green was recently released and has since joined the Warriors, all this happening with less than two hours of the news that Pearce had been officially released is a little more than a coincidence. The Northern Beaches side are in the market for a new six and Pearce ticks all the right boxes, he is experienced, a premiership winner and a State Of Origin regular, he could very easily be the man that helps Manly back into the top 4.

Who Pearce will sign for is yet to be decided, or announced, but when he does sign he will be a great asset to any team.
