Johnson In Hot Water Over Post World Cup Comments

Kiwi skipper, Shaun Johnson, has issued a public apology after his comments offended many New Zealand fans.

After New Zealand's sock exit at the hands of Fiji at the weekend, Johnson was faced with the daunting task of addressing the media. While talking to the media Johnson lashed out saying "The most disappointing thing for me is that everyone who doubted us - the fans, media - yous got your way"

The backlash of this comment was almost immediate, with angry fans taking to social media to vent their frustrations. Johnson later released a statement in which he said "Immediately following the loss to Fiji I was told I had media. Rattled from what had just happened I said something that came across completely wrong, implying that the fans are to blame for how we played and that they would be satisfied. I f**ked up. Anyone who knows me knows that's not and never will be me. I take full responsibility for my performances good or bad"
