Hodgson Speaks Out After Injury

Josh Hodgson has spoken out for the first time since his, tournament ending, ACL injury. The hooker goes into detail of how the injury hasn't just affected his ability to play, but the impact it has had on his personal life too, saying "There'll be no trip back home this year" the Canberra hooker left his family in the UK, for his move to the NRL back in 2015, Hodgson makes frequent visits to England in the off season but now due to his rehabilitation schedule he is unable to do so, he also said "It's more important that I stay here and I get my knee right and ready to go again."

The former Hull man had this to say in an interview for the Canberra Raiders website "I was shattered really. To get injured in the game before the World Cup final is a massive blow. But I hope the boys can do the business and that would certainly help me feel a lot better. In terms of my personal situation, it is what it is. There's nothing I can do about it now. As much as I probably don't feel like it at the moment, I've got to try and pick my chin up and take each week as it comes. Fingers crossed, I'll still make some appearances next year, I'm not sure when that will be. There's no point putting a time frame on it."

The psychological impact of an injury can be harrowing for a player, any slight twinge or soreness will eventually lead to paranoia and intense stress levels, unfortunately injuries are part of the game and nobody likes to see a player side-lined for long periods of time. With any luck Hodgson will recover quickly and we will see him feature in the 9 jersey again sooner rather than later.
