Could Oates Be Lured Away From The Broncos

Brisbane and Queensland winger Corey Oates, in a recent interview, has stated that he has aspirations of playing in the forwards, he said "I enjoy the wing but it has never really been my preferred position."

Oates recently signed a 1 year extension on his Brisbane contract that keeps him with the club until the end of 2018. Clubs are therefore allowed to talk to him, in an effort to gain his services for the 2019 season.

If you combine his contract uncertainty with his desire to play a different position, you essentially have a want away player. Oates acknowledged, in his recent interview with, that he is not getting any younger and that the positional change needs to happen sooner rather than later.

He went on to say ""I was happy to do that for the first couple of years but footy doesn't last forever and if you want to get the most out of it why not play where you enjoy it the most, I still love playing in the forwards, in the back row, and I am hoping that one day soon I can move back in. I can't wait until I am 27 or 28 to make a positional change."

Oates is really classy player, he's diverse and flexible which means he brings great depth to a squad, he could be more than tempted with a move elsewhere with the condition of playing in his desired position.
