Cameron Smith: The One That Got Away

Cameron Smith may just be the most decorated player of all time, he has a host of NRL records to his name and every personal accolade at club and international level, all but one, the Clive Churchill medal.

After the 2017 Grand Final many were shocked to see Smith passed up for the award, and it instead go to fullback Billy Slater. Smith's trophy cabinet will be bursting at the seams but he will definitely notice that there is one missing to complete the set.

Today Cameron Smith has been named as the Golden Boot winner, for the second time in his career, this means that Smith has already won; Dally M Hooker, Captain and player of the year, a grand final medal, the afore mentioned Golden Boot and an Origin series winners medal. His search for silverware doesn't stop there though, he also has a World Cup to play in on Saturday.

It's incredible to think that Smith has been awarded all of that, in the space of less than 12 months. Other accolades he has received in previous years are; Dally M Rep Player Of The Year(2), The Wally Lewis Medal(2) and A World Cup Winners Medal(1).

It's safe to say that Cameron Smith has had a very successful 15 year career, Smith has not yet announced any plans to walk away from the game, could he still get the one award he is missing?
